Bringing Rural Maternal Health to Life: From Rescue to Moonshot
Behind every statistic about rural maternal health is a mother, a baby, a family, a health care professional, and a community.
Rural communities across Texas are navigating significant challenges in sustaining maternal health care, including gaps in maternity services, primary care, workforce, and infrastructure. The 2026 Rural Texas Maternal Health Rescue Plan: From Rescue to Moonshot brings these challenges into focus, but understanding the numbers is only part of the story.
Join us for a conversation that brings the report to life through the people and communities at the center of rural maternal health. Grounded in the data, panelists bring perspectives from epidemiology, rural hospital leadership, and frontline clinical care to explore what these challenges look like on the ground, how they affect communities, and what we can learn from the people working to strengthen maternal health across rural Texas.
Together, we move beyond the numbers to better understand the people, places, and experiences behind them, and the possibilities for a stronger future for rural Texas.
This webinar is hosted by Texas Health Institute in collaboration with the Rural Texas Maternal Health Assembly. The Rural Texas Maternal Health Assembly is convened by Texas A&M Rural & Community Health Institute, Texas Academy of Family Physicians, Texas Health Institute, Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals, and Texas Association of Community Health Centers, with generous support from the T.L.L. Temple Foundation.
